    2505% Medicare Spending Jump

Since Baucus (and some in Congress) want to fund health care reform by slowing growth and finding cuts in Medicare ... here are some numbers they may want to review:

Medicare outlays were $37.5 billion in 1980.

This year they are estimated to be $503 billion.

By 2018, Medicare is estimated to spend $932 billion.

That would be a spending increase of 2505% since 1980.

So tell us again how we will 'find' money from Medicare?    Hard to save anything when the program has been spending like a drunken sailor for 30 years.

That one number if true should be enough to kill this or any other spending bill in its tracks. What is wrong with people. I am just a dumb midwest country boy and I see that wont work. I own a welding shop and letting Washington run health care is like me wanting to start doing brain surgery. It might be interesting but I wouldnt know what the hell I was doing and the finale outcome wouldnt be pretty

ROBERT ELLIOTT

THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD FIX THE CURRENT SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE AND MEDICADE PROGRAMS BEFORE THEY CREAT A NEW PROGRAM THAT WE ALL KNOW WILL BE FAR MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THEY SAY IT WILL....THE NATIONAL DEBT IS OUT OF CONTROL.... THEY SHOULD WORK ON THAT FIRST...
