    Notice Any Extra Money?

The "middle class tax cut" talked up for 95% of Americans should now begin appearing in paychecks.

Given the level of publicity this is receiving, I am trying to follow the story and make sure the impact is actually happening and people are seeing more money.   One viewer told me she noticed $9 extra in her check this week.

So if any of you notice less Federal withholding taken from your checks (net more money) let me know.   You can write in the comments section.

Not looking to know salaries, etc ... just want to make sure these tax cuts are happening and how much extra people are receiving.

Good luck and happy tax day!

Hey, I've worked really hard over a 20-year career to make more than $250K per year and the government never helped me along the way in any way. I guess I should expect some good things coming, huh? Something tells me that Obama excludes my kind of "working family" from the definition, however, so I'm not going to hold my breath. I guess if I stop working I'll still get paid, right, since I'm not part of a "working family" after all. Everybody just gives me money for free! Yea! Yea!

I saw an extra $16 per month. Then a week later my company announced a 10% pay cut. Insane. We need to go back to basics. Learn about how our Government (Republic) was originally designed to function. The Feds have significantly over stepped their bonds.

I am a CPA and a computer programmer. I updated the withholding tables in our payroll program in late March and it does reduce federal withholding by the same amount for everyone until the phaseout income is reached. As Susan says above you should be careful because the withholding reduction is double for a married couple who are both working, unless they claim single for withholding purposes. Our state allows a deduction for federal tax, so the reduction in federal withholding causes the state withholding to increase a dollar or two.

I'm seeing an extra $40 a month. Of course, with our recent health care plan changes, it's going to cost me 4 times that amount a month to maintain my current coverage.

Received a net amount of about $34 in my paycheck. Monthly, should work out to be $68 or $816/year. Problem is, it's such a small amount that I don't really notice it..Would think this will have a minimal benefit to me.

My net pay increased about $14 per pay period. Of course, our health benefit costs increased about $45 a pay period, so I'm going backward. But, even if I were not paying more for health care benefits, other taxes in my state are increasing to the point that any federal cut I got is long gone. I don't really feel any "stimulative" effects.

I have an idea in the place of "giving back" 10 to 40.00 of our money per pay period just reduce the tax code, make it easily understood (so every one has clear idea how and what to pay...you too TG), and make it about consumption not production so everyone who is in or traveleing through America will pay (illegals and visitors). Drop all the deductions and manipulation.

My federal tax deduction dropped by $60. That would have me owing the Feds next year. I re set it so that no change appears. What a bunch of lunacy. Several of my co workers also saw drops in witholding that would put them in the postion of owing the Feds next year. Talk about Voodoo economics!

I see an extra $76.00 a month. Only problem with this is, by my employer decreasing the amount of tax being withheld from my paychecks this year, it only increases the amount of taxes I will owe our "growoing" government next year on April 15, 2010. I hope they don't think we actually buying into this farce.

Howdy- Quick question. This tax cut sounds like they just changed the withholding tables. Did they change the median tax rates at all? Or are they playing fast and loose with deductions that most people will not qualify for? Will most people have a surprise tax bill waiting for them next year?

A total scam that the American public is tired of...$40 extra this month...time to cut welfare; free education programs, food stamps, limit the number of children anyone has who receives govt payments and trim the fat from special interest pork projects. We've reached a critical tipping point. And how are we exactly going to fix social security? Hmmm...time to toss the whole crew out and start fresh--it can't get any worse.

Increase of $23, or $46 per month. I didn't even notice until reading your article.

Are you kidding? I live in California, which by definition makes me "Rich". There is no change in my withholding.

I get about an extra $50 every two weeks. Works for me since I usually get a sizeable tax refund every year as I take no withholding deductions so my refund is bigger. It is nice to have a little extra net in my pocket now. It is strange to get a tax cut from a Democrat, but I am sure it won't last long and so once again, the world will be set right and we can all go back to the way things should be :)
