Response to George - Thats easy - this money was/is never destined to help us. It's sole purpose is to pay off the loans that where taken out and will never be paid back as well as prop up those that allowed these loans to happen in the first place. Economies all over the world are falling apart, becaues the bank/broker types convinced them to bet on what they thought would be a BIG make money scheme. Too bad it was jall ust a lie! And to think - NOBODY has gone to jail for causing all this!

This is nothing but the elite providing welfare for thier own kind. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but seems like we are now approaching $15 TRILLION in welfare for the rich, thats approximately 100k for the 120+- million households in this country.
Imagine what 120 million households could do for the economy if they each had 100k. Seems like there would be no need to bail out the fat cats as they would certainly get enough to get well, from consumers spending. no I'm no economist but the economy is grinding to a halt in spite of trillions doled out to banks, brokers, car manufacturers etc, we the people ultimately pay the taxes and right now we are getting nothing but a red hot poker straight up our keister.
If we ever needed another revolution it's now.

Somebody tell me why we can't take 800 billion dollars and pay off everybodys mortgages and credit cards. Everybody gets a huge debt break, you stop the foreclosures and that shores up the real estate industry. Everybody has much more disposable income to give back to the economy. Why would this be a bad idea ?

Time to throw out the 535 bums in the congress, along with millions of government employees at all levels and start over.

If you want to know where your money actually went, check the payroll, benefit, health care and pension numbers of this treasonous batch of criminals,

What really gets me is so many people (average Americans) are smart enough to know our country's TARP plan is nothing more than a waste of our money - I have yet to hear of anyone outside of Washington think TARP will do the job it is intended to do, yet our government doesn't listen. Is this not the reason why we fought for independence in the American Revolution - because we were under a government that did not have the same cares of it's own people? Look how far we have come fellow Americans - No longer do we have a government of the people, by the people, for the people!
Our government was not created to provide for us (welfare, insurance, etc) and it was never supposed to be allowed to tell us what we can and cannot do (prayer, right to bear arms, euthanasia, etc.). But we all became fat and lazy, whining like spoiled children. This is where it gets us.
Too much is decided for us and provided for us. We have lost our voices. The government has grown big with inflated egos now assuming it has full control while treating the people exactly like ignorant children - what do we know - we aren't smart enough to understand the consequences if we don't act now!

What is the reality of TARP.

I do not hear one word about the real result of this mess and what the government has now done. To me what this results in is the people who should be losing their jobs get to keep them, and those who shouldn't be losing their jobs are the ones left holding a paddle, frantically dipping it in a smelly goey substance. The financial sector has shoved off their poor performance on the public and those at the bottom working on mainstreet are left without a paddle sinking quickly because of it. All these banks involved in this should be bu.rned to the ground, they and their employees should be the ones without the paddle and as long as they are floating down that creek let them float all the way to the ocean and drown.

America seems to be more now then ever, who you know, how you look, and nothing whatsoever about the skill, talent and know how that used to guarantee success.
