HOw stupid does Pickens consider the American people are? Running a Pickens Plan ad during Meet the Press, you don't think that the people viewing the program might ask, "What is this about? What might be the underlying motive?" Wind and solar, what an original idea! Who'da ever thunk? Da. Might it be an attempt to dilute the problems that the oil companies, supported by the Bush administration for eight years, have brought upon this nation. Predictably, "It's not the oil companies fault!" Yes it is. How many progressive inventions have met their death by being purchased by oil interests? Did they continue to invest in these inventions or did they die on the vine, as intended?

If the FRENCH can maintain a safe and effective nuclear program without blowing themselves up, then we can certainly do it. Nuclear waste is a real problem, but it is a problem with solutions.

This is a great project. The key is doing everything. Wind, solar, **nuclear**, producing natural gas, drilling anwar today, investing in more renewable technologies. We cannot just rely on just wind(two projects in MA cannot even get going because of opposition), solar, and obama's plan of a apollo like project. We don't know if any economical renewable technologies will come out of that project. Do you want to gamble the entire U.S. economy on whether we develop a new technology. The stakes are too high to just roll the dice. We need to do EVERYTHING that makes sense to fix this energy problem.

We ALL need to force our elected representatives to take ACTION NOW on ALL Forms of Energy Sources! Read How on this webpage: www.jdsannuities.com/_5__gas___help or copy and paste this link to your addres bar: http://www.jdsannuities.com/_5__gas___help Is $4.00++ per Gallon Gasoline KILLING your Budget? Have your Electric Bills gone UP materially so far this summer? Wait until you see your Heating Bills this Winter!!!!!! We the People will be heard!

There were massive wind farms installed for power generation after the Carter diaster years in the 80's in So cal near Indio. My corp at the time was the controls contractor and still is as far a I know. MASSIVE investments were made into alternative energy in the 80's that we were involved with. Solar farms from Israeli corporations, Trash to energy burners all over LA, gas generators, tire burners to power plants built near Sacremento and on and on. These are all plants that I PERSONNALY set foot on. All subsidized by the "Department of Energy", remember them. Didn't even put a dimple dent in California's network. But it was great for us to get paid for all this scam. There was massive investments, and they did not expand. From what I remember, the power from 1000's of acres of turbines that are a huge environmental eyesore, was very small, enough to plug a 1/4 of Palm Springs, at THAT time. Every home would have to convert to DC power inversion for simple lighting and appliance use in order for the Megawatts made to spread out over more homes. Like wiring our houses like RV's. You all are not thinking this through. And T-Bone has to have another gig behind this for the economics are not there. And I am just a simple idiot down the road here. Don't you people know there are thousands of us who work in these industries and know what is what? How much BS do you think I can shovel of yours? I think it is time for more of people like ME to speak up and get the spin out and inform people of the scamming going on. Nuclear is viable, clean and real and now, Canada, that is all they can produce, keep them in the grid out of AB like it is now and pay them more, they are our friends and not likely to get any more commie then they already are, gas and coal degassification, same as nuke, LG cars NOW, gas in the south is huge and we can fill them cheap...now. And this sounds stupid but really needs to be addressed, horse ownership. 34 million people+ own horses in thier backyards. Millions upon millions are spent in "training" for no purpose. Companies and municipalities ought to allow amateur horsemen to ride thier horses to work in short trip commutes EVERYWHERE in thousands and thousands of communities in the US. I am republican and even I think there is a better way then shipping thousands of good horses to the Texas border to get thier throats slit for no reason. Thank you for the time.

Until we see windmills off Cape Cod, Mr. Pickens does not have any chance of succeeding. God bless him for trying.

Mr Bush, Congress are you, listening? An Idea so simple yet so bold and will make a real impact.

Simple and effective: a recipe for a complete shutdown by our elected officials. There appears to be more to the ongoing transfer of wealth to foreign lands and the energy crisis than meets the eye. I hope I am wrong but I think Americans and our system have become incapable of pulling together for a technological change of this magnitude as has been done with other past national projects. Personal gain, a feeling of helplessness and over regulation has overtaken our desire to do for the country and the common good. How can we make this energy change work? It appears the technology is in place.
David
The simplicity of the Picken's plan is great. We need a national energy strategy that takes advantage of the geographic zones we occupy. We need more energy to provide for economic growth, and we need to be providing our own energy from US sources. Foreigners are not dependable for much except for opposition to the United States. We also need to relax some of these choking environmental rules and allow nuclear power and oil exploration. The cars won't be electric (and they probably should be) until a huge surplus exists in the power grid. Oh, and we need to renovate the power grid. Even if the cars were electric, and power was plentiful, the grid would overload. This might be a nice place for Microsoft to spend the money they are giving away to countries overseas that will never even be greatful to the United States. If buying friends was possible, we'd have a long list of faithful friends everywhere, and we don't. Thanks Dave

I wish I was half as smart as Boone Pickens. I'd be a billionaire instead of just a multi-millionaire.

Good comment, but I don't think there are any holes that need to be filled by nuclear. We have no place that will allow us to dispose of the waste, and they are subject to attack. Distributed energy is also a vital need. The more locations and companies the better. Competition must be encouraged. Ideally, many individual homes and neighborhoods would have their own electric supply working with the larger grid. This will decrease blackouts due to nature and accidents.
Justin
LOL. Wind power... Is that what you guys really think ole T Boone is up to? Try the biggest coal burning power plant in the United States. Wind is just a cover to gain the right of way of the land Pickens is going to use. Think about how many whack job environazis would have a fit if they knew a brand new mega coal burning power plant was being built right here in the good ole US of A. This just highlights how politically screwed up our country is right now. You literally have to dupe the masses before you can actually use one of our nations most abundant resources. Do you think Pickens could have secured the right of way, water, and property rights to all of that land he's planning on using for his plant if he was being honest with what he planned on building? God Bless him though. Lord knows we are going to need that energy. Texas is booming. I'd love nothing more to see this great republic seceed from America before it takes us down with it.

The left will never favor anything Republican Pickens suggests simply because he is a Republican and it doesn't want any credit given to the GOP. It's as simple as that.
